Chelmsford Digitises Veterans’ Stories Online

In a heartwarming collaboration, Chelmsford’s own Blesma, The Limbless Veterans, has teamed up with local digital archives specialist, Historic Records, to preserve a vital piece of history. Over 70 years of Blesma’s quarterly magazine, chronicling the experiences and triumphs of injured service personnel, have now been digitised. This monumental project breathes new life into these stories, allowing veterans, enthusiasts, and researchers to search the text online with ease.

Alana McConnell from Blesma noted the importance of this preservation, highlighting the pride in being able to work with a local company to modernise their historical records. The digitisation ensures that these invaluable stories are no longer at risk of deterioration, preserving them for generations to come.

Historic Records, located on Victoria Road, is renowned for its expertise in converting physical documents into high-resolution digital versions. Founded by genealogy expert Paul Nixon, the company has a rich history of working with various archives and museums. Paul’s passion for military history, inspired by his grandfather’s World War One stories, shines through in this project. He expressed delight in combining his interests to support a local charity.

This collaboration not only preserves history but also showcases the tremendous work Blesma does in supporting injured veterans. As a proud part of the Chelmsford community, we at Bond Residential are always here to support local initiatives and help you find your perfect home in this vibrant area. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply love the community spirit, Chelmsford has something special to offer.
