Essex Police Introduce AI Chat ‘Bobbi’

Essex Police are set to launch ‘Bobbi’, an innovative AI-powered live chat tool, next month. Designed to streamline non-emergency communications, ‘Bobbi’ will provide quick responses and prioritise queries, serving as a handy alternative to the traditional 101 line. This new virtual assistant is part of Essex Police’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital engagement, ensuring that emergency 999 calls receive prompt attention.

Currently, Essex Police’s live chat tool allows residents to easily contact the force for non-urgent matters. With the introduction of ‘Bobbi’, the aim is to further improve efficiency and accessibility. Last month alone, the 101 line received over 52,000 calls, with an impressive average wait time of just three seconds. This places Essex Police among the top 12 police forces for response times, according to Police UK.

The introduction of ‘Bobbi’ is expected to alleviate some of the pressure on the hardworking staff at the Force Control Room in Chelmsford. By encouraging the use of digital tools, Essex Police hopes to free up resources to focus on critical emergency situations. This initiative reflects the force’s commitment to embracing technology to better serve the community.

As ‘Bobbi’ prepares to make its debut, Essex residents can look forward to a more efficient and responsive service for their non-emergency needs.
