In a heartwarming display of community spirit, pupils at The Beaulieu Park School in Chelmsford have raised nearly £6,000 for Cancer Research UK and Broomfield Hospital. This incredible feat was inspired by the courageous journey of Year 5 pupil, Amber Butcher, who was treated for Osteosarcoma, a form of aggressive bone cancer, at Broomfield Hospital.
Amber, diagnosed at the tender age of nine, spent much of her chemotherapy treatment isolated on the children's ward. During this challenging time, the hospital's play team gifted her personal toys, which sparked a desire in Amber to bring joy to other children facing similar battles. With the support of her friends, the school community, and Ms Koller, head of the primary school, Amber organised a bake sale and an online fundraiser. Her efforts resulted in a generous donation of £2,400 worth of brand-new toys to the hospital’s children’s ward.
Ms Koller expressed immense pride in Amber, stating, "Her desire to give back to the hospital is truly inspirational. Amber has brought great joy to the children at Broomfield Hospital and is a role model for the rest of our pupils."
Amber's initiative didn't just stop there. It inspired seven of her classmates to lace up their trainers and participate in the Chelmsford 5k Race for Life on July 13 at Hylands Park. Together, they raised an impressive £3,500 for Cancer Research UK.
This story of resilience and generosity highlights the power of community and the impact young individuals can have. If you're looking to become part of a supportive community, whether through education or property, we at Bond Residential are here to help you find your perfect home in Chelmsford.
