Chelmsford Choir's Heartfelt Airport Performance

The Sing Space Musical Theatre Choir from Chelmsford recently hit a high note by raising an impressive £406.35 for Young Lives vs Cancer. This heartwarming event took place at London Stansted Airport, where the choir, joined by members from Bishops Stortford and Colchester, serenaded travellers with their musical theatre repertoire.

The choir's decision to support Young Lives vs Cancer was deeply personal, as three of their members have been directly supported by the charity. Choir leader Sarah expressed the joy of performing in such a unique setting, stating, “Singing our Musical Theatre repertoire in the check-in hall was a joy—we loved bidding travellers farewell with a smile, and a touch of the West End.”

Emma Gibbons, a choir member from Billericay, shared her personal journey with Young Lives vs Cancer. Diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at 18, Emma received invaluable support from the charity, including financial grants and accommodation near her treatment centre. Now a fundraising volunteer for the charity, Emma described the event as an “amazing day.”

Young Lives vs Cancer provides crucial support to children, young people, and their families, from financial grants to accommodation near hospitals. Last year, the charity supported 196 young people in Essex, offering £21,200 in financial grants to help families manage the extra costs associated with cancer treatment.

Kim Mangelshot, the charity's fundraising engagement manager for Essex, highlighted the importance of donations, saying, “The impact of cancer on young lives is more than medical and it’s felt by the entire family.”

At Bond Residential, we are inspired by such community spirit and dedication. If you're looking to make a move in Chelmsford, our team is here to support you every step of the way.
