Two talented young writers from Chelmsford have made their mark on the national stage by excelling in the prestigious Schools Bible Project. This annual competition, organised by the charity Christian Projects, invites secondary school students to delve into the life of Christ and creatively write about their experiences as if they were present at these historical events.
Among the 600 students from St John Payne Catholic School who entered, Year 10 student Xavier emerged victorious, clinching first place, while Year 9 student Alyson achieved an impressive third place, competing against a staggering 10,000 participants nationwide. Their remarkable achievements have filled the school community with pride and joy.
Assistant headteacher Richard Folkerd expressed his delight, emphasising the significance of this accomplishment in a competition that encourages students to engage deeply with biblical narratives. The school's tradition of participating in Christian projects and Bible competitions has once again borne fruit, showcasing the students' dedication and the school's commitment to religious education.
Katy Adams, the school's chaplain, echoed these sentiments, praising Xavier and Alyson for their outstanding achievements.
